Basketball Recap: Moberly Triumphs

On Friday, the Moberly Spartans didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Westran Hornets, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory.

Moberly found their leader in freshman Amar'E Hawkins, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Hawkins has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ethan Land, who had six points and eight boards.

Westran lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cooper Harvey, who went 5-for-12 en route to 12 points and six rebounds. Marshall Kitchen was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

Moberly now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Westran, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.

Moberly wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-55 win against Marshall on the 17th. As for Westran, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-56 victory against Schuyler County on the 18th.
