Softball Recap: Pima Wins Going Away Against Fort Thomas

The third road matchup was the charm for Pima, as they earned their first away win of the season. They were the clear victors by a 24-12 margin over the Fort Thomas Apaches on Thursday. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 11 runs or more this season.

Bivianna Vega was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rhilee John, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

Vega wasn't the only one making solid contact: Pima kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Fort Thomas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Coming up, Pima will head out to take on Miami at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vandals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.82 runs per game on average), something the Roughriders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Thomas, they will head out on the road to challenge Superior at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Apaches surely won't give up without a fight.
