Basketball Recap: Ethan Saunders' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clover Garden School over Woods Charter

Clover Garden School lost against Woods Charter back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Clover Garden School Grizzlies lost 63-40 to the Woods Charter Wolves. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clover Garden School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ethan Saunders, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden DeAlto, who posted four points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Clover Garden School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Woods Charter found their leader in sophomore Grant Richardson, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Richardson has scored all season. Bhuvanesh Senthil was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Clover Garden School's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Woods Charter, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Clover Garden School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-51 win against Triangle Math & Science on the 13th. As for Woods Charter, they will take on Southern Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southern Wake Academy comes in on seven and Woods Charter on three.
