Volleyball Game Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Springville Red Devils

The Cedar Valley Aviators will face off against the Springville Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Cedar Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Salem Hills and fell 3-2. While the Aviators didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Skyhawks 25-17 in the first set.

Cedar Valley actually scored more points across those five sets (106-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Meanwhile, Springville faced Wasatch in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Wasps with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Devils, who have now won five games in a row.

Springville never let Wasatch on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Springville pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Cedar Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Cedar Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Springville in their previous matchup back in March, winning 3-1. Will the Aviators repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
