Basketball Recap: Doniphan-Trumbull Comes Up Short

Doniphan-Trumbull played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Ord Chanticleers 66-39. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-13.

Logan Rainforth and Charlee Richter certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Rainforth posted 13 points and eight rebounds, while Richter earned 15 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Rainforth a new career-high in blocks (two).

Ord's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Williams, who put up 16 points along with seven steals and five assists. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Lange, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Doniphan-Trumbull dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to assists: they averaged an imposing zero assists in those games compared to only zero in the others. As for Ord, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Doniphan-Trumbull wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-36 win against Gibbon on the 3rd. As for Ord, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Broken Bow at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th.
