Baseball Recap: Rock Port Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Rock Port had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the DeKalb Tigers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Jays, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jadyn Geib made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Tayden Cook was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Westyn Amthor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Rock Port always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Rock Port's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for DeKalb, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Rock Port will look to defend their home field on Monday against Maysville at 5:00 p.m. The Wolverines will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Blue Jays surely won't give up without a fight. As for DeKalb, they are taking a road trip to challenge North Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
