Softball Recap: Ponchatoula Takes a Loss

Ponchatoula fell victim to Iota and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Iota Bulldogs. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Abby Dagro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ponchatoula saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Virga, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Ponchatoula's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Iota, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Ponchatoula wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-8 loss against Ouachita Christian on the 8th. As for Iota, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-6 defeat against St. Thomas More on the 8th.
