Volleyball Recap: Duh Mang Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Porter Ridge

After losing to Porter Ridge the last time they met, Covenant Day decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lions put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday.

While Covenant Day won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-23, 25-19.

Covenant Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Duh Mang out in front who had 11 digs. Mang is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Welles Wilder also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Covenant Day couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 49.3% of their attack attempts. They are a perfect 7-0 when when their percentage is at least 0.4.

Covenant Day's record now sits at 9-3. As for Porter Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Covenant Day will square off against rival Legion Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Porter Ridge is set to challenge their familiar foe Ardrey Kell at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
