Baseball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin's last matchup with Mount Airy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Buckin' Elks lost 11-5 to the Granite Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Granite Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 on Tuesday.

Elkin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonas Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Elkin has also been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Mount Airy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season.

Elkin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-3 defeat against South Stokes on the 21st. As for Mount Airy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against Alleghany on the 22nd.
