Soccer Recap: Athens Extends Winning Streak to Four

Athens had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against the Dakota Cougars by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Athens' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while Dakota are ranked 32nd).

Athens' victory bumped their record up to 13-2-2. As for Dakota, they moved to 10-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Athens will face off against Saline at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Athens will need to watch out since Saline have now posted at least four goals in their last three contests. Dakota does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
