Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Summit). Everything went their way against the Centennial Cougars on Tuesday as Summit made off with  a  14-2 win. Considering the Spartans have won four matches by more than six  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Addison Johnson tossed a big game,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent  for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time she's  pitched this season.
 At the plate,  Tarek Scherr was a standout: she scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Anne Marie Richards, who  went 3-for-4 with one  home run and three  RBI.
Summit is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Centennial dropped their record down to 2-6 with the  loss, which was their sixth straight  on the road dating back to last season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit will take on Independence at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Summit's pitchers better be ready for this one: Independence has averaged an impressive 6.8  runs per game this season. As for Centennial, they will face off against Brentwood at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Brentwood will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something Centennial surely won't give up without a fight.
