Basketball Recap: Frankford Pioneers vs. Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors
Frankford won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They came up short against the Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors, falling 66-41. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Warriors are ranked 225th).
Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brandon Gage, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Mykel Owens, who scored five points.
It was another big night for Nafis Dubose, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 23 points and four steals for Sankofa Freedom Academy. The dominant performance gave Dubose a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Asim Hardy, who earned eight points and six assists.
