Preview: Union Cougars vs. South Summit Wildcats
The Union Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the South Summit Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Union scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Ogden 58-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Union has posted yet this season.
South Summit has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-49 walloping at the hands of Morgan on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat South Summit has suffered against Morgan since February 9, 2021.
Emma Broadbent put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 18 rebounds. Broadbent is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maklee Woolstenhulme, who scored six points along with three blocks.
Union's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for South Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Union beat South Summit 54-47 in their previous matchup back in December of 2020. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was South Summit's Reagan Sanderson, who scored 26 points along with two steals. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Union to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
