Basketball Recap: Evansville Harrison Takes a Loss

Evansville Harrison was the 68-51 winner over Evansville Central when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Evansville Harrison Warriors fell to the Evansville Central Bears 43-38. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly five points.

When it comes to explaining why Evansville Harrison lost on Thursday, don't look at Jay Summitt. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Shane Sims was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Evansville Harrison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Evansville Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zaryen Moore, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Moore has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daveon Smith, who earned nine points.

Evansville Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Evansville Central, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Evansville Harrison has already played their next game, a 67-56 victory against Bloomington South on the 8th. As for Evansville Central, they will be playing at home against Evansville North at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
