Softball Game Preview: Big Spring Steers vs. Levelland Lobos

Big Spring is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will square off against the Levelland Lobos at 5:00 p.m. Big Spring has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Big Spring might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-2 to Colorado, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Steers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Big Spring saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Analia Hinojosa, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Levelland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Floydada on Tuesday. Levelland's pitchers stepped up to hand Floydada an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won 15 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Levelland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Big Spring, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Big Spring suffered a grim 19-5 defeat to Levelland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Big Spring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
