Baseball Recap: Ashland Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Ashland hadn't done well against Crater recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Grizzlies skirted past the Comets 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since April 10th.

Malakai Chandler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Ashland's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Ashland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kai Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

With the victory, Ashland broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-9. As for Crater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season.

Ashland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Crater: the pair will be back at it again later today.
