Minisink Valley proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Valley Central Vikings 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won nine matches in a row.

Emily Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Minisink Valley's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kiera Barry, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Minisink Valley pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Central, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-5.

Coincidentally, Minisink Valley and Valley Central will both be playing Goshen Central the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Gladiators at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Warriors will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
