Basketball Game Preview: Therrell Panthers vs. Douglass Astros

Therrell has gone 9-1 against Douglass recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Both will compete for holiday cheer. Therrell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.

Therrell is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They took a blow against Central Gwinnett, falling 79-45. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Black Knights are ranked 128th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Morion Mcwhorter, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Woolridge, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, everything went Douglass' way against Miller Grove on Saturday as Douglass made off with a 66-42 victory. The Astros have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Douglass' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.8 points. As for Therrell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Therrell came out on top in a nail-biter against Douglass in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, sneaking past 49-47. Will Therrell repeat their success, or does Douglass have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
