Basketball Game Preview: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints vs. Holton-Arms

The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints will challenge Holton-Arms at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row dating back to last season, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes turned things around against King's Christian Academy on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 62-39 victory. The Saints' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Holton-Arms earned a 48-38 win over Saint James on Tuesday. Given Holton-Arms' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Saint James is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Holton-Arms, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes couldn't quite finish off Holton-Arms in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 48-46. Can St. Stephen's & St. Agnes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
