The biggest upset of the week belonged to Northgate, who took down 341st ranked Northgate, 25-24.
Apollo Ridge's Jonah Casella rumbled for the longest rushing play in WPIAL A Eastern this season in his game against West Shamokin last week. Casella's team beat the Wolves as he sprinted for 89 yards on the play and finished with 146 in all.
Apollo Ridge's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jesse Zelonka threw for 180 and two touchdowns and Tre Tipton had 122 yards receiving. Alex Smith helped Apollo Ridge's passing attack out by catching four balls for 53 yards.
John Skiba's team's Zelonka and Tipton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zelonka has thrown for 1260 yards this season, while Tipton, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 35 catches for 632 yards. West Shamokin's Zac Horner leads the league in rushing yards with 654.
Avonworth moved up to 354 from 388 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Antelopes climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Flames 25-24.
