Baseball Recap: Buckingham Browne & Nichols' Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Buckingham Browne & Nichols waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Middlesex. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 back in April.

DECLAN WILKES spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, CORTEZ HEYWORTH was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Buckingham Browne & Nichols: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of RYAN CLAY, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Buckingham Browne & Nichols pushed their record up to 10-9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Middlesex, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
