Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). They blew past the Cabool Bulldogs 23-15 on Thursday. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Alaina Norris made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up nine earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). Norris was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Salem got a massive performance out of Raven Gillam, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-6. Those four hits gave Gillam a new career-high. Beatrice Hovey also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Salem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
