League recap: Muncy win leads to rise in state rank

Muncy moved up to 315 from 406 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Heartland III. A 38-7 win over Warrior Run helped the Indians improve their standing.

Southern Columbia Area extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating South Williamsport, 42-21. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Tigers.

Matthew BOONE put up the best numbers through the air as Montgomery fell to Sayre. He finished with a total of 18 completions for 165 yards and one touchdown. BOONE's favorite target this week was Colton HARER, who caught eight passes for 82 yards.

Maurice Brown was the best wideout in the league this week as Muncy beat the Defenders. Brown racked up five receptions for 140 yards. Skylar Ebner helped Muncy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 21 yards.

Troy Hembury was the most productive running back in Heartland III this week. He ran for 126 yards on 17 carries as Jay Drumheller's team defeated Warrior Run. Teammate Junior Ramos added to the ground attack by rushing for 72 yards.

Anthony Barberio provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Indians topped Mark Burrows's team. He completed nine passes for 187 yards and also ran for 16 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback BOONE of the Red Raiders is the league leader in passing yards this season with 483. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, Muncy's Hembury has rushed for 521 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brown. The Muncy star has 13 catches for 277 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Southern Columbia Area takes on the Indians. Jim R Roth's team has allowed 57 points this season, while Muncy has given up 34.

The Tigers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Mountaineers.
