Whitefish Bay is 8-2 against Slinger since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Dukes will host the Owls at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Whitefish Bay 3.1, Slinger 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Whitefish Bay's victory against West Bend East wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Dukes narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Suns 5-4. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Dukes as they're now sitting on three straight.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slinger). They put the hurt on Homestead with a sharp 16-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the Owls have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brayden Zimmerman looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Chase Leverance was a standout: he went a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 games. Macay Wagner was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Slinger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homestead only posted an OBP of .154.
Slinger pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Whitefish Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Whitefish Bay skirted past Slinger 9-8 in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Will the Blue Dukes repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
