Basketball Recap: Lutheran Takes a Loss

Lutheran lost against Lewis-Palmer back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lutheran Lions took a hard 74-59 fall against the Lewis-Palmer Rangers.

When it comes to explaining why Lutheran lost, don't look at Kade Speckman. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. Speckman has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times he's played. Lalo Gonzalez was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points.

Lewis-Palmer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonas Miller out in front who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lowe, who went 8 for 12 to rack up 19 points and six rebounds.

Lutheran's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Lewis-Palmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season.

Lutheran has already played their next contest, a 60-31 win against Air Academy on the 30th. As for Lewis-Palmer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-46 victory against Discovery Canyon on the 30th.
