Softball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Lincoln Lions

Woonsocket is 0-8 against Lincoln since May of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Villa Novans will host the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Woonsocket has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Woonsocket's offense. They lost 19-0 to West Warwick on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Villa Novans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Lincoln never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Burrillville. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Anna Danis looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Tillson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydney Marchand, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Lincoln and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Woonsocket, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
