Basketball Recap: Kylie Young's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westbrook over Marshwood

Westbrook fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Marshwood on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Marshwood Hawks 56-50. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Blazes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-37 back in December of 2024.

Westbrook lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kylie Young, who went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points along with six boards and four steals. Young is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Lyla Dunphe was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Westbrook and nudges their season record down to 9-10. As for Marshwood, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Westbrook will face off against Gorham at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gorham's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Westbrook's offense will have their work cut out for them. Marshwood has already played their next contest (against Massabesic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
