Softball Recap: Glenwood Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Glenwood waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Springfield a 15-0 shutout. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Alyvia Streb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Glenwood let Jemma Lamb and Hope Gilmore run wild. Lamb went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Gilmore went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ava Bobb was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Glenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Glenwood's record now sits at 22-2. As for Springfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenwood will take on Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Springfield, they will challenge Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
