Softball Recap: Destin Comes Up Short

While it was Destin who put the first runs on the board on Monday, it was Freeport who put up more. The Sharks fell 8-5 to the Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Sharks in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.

Aspen Benscoter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Keelie Ellis and Anita Palmer did some serious damage despite the final result: Ellis went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Palmer went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Destin's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Freeport, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Destin will face off against Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Freeport, they will be playing at home against Ponce De Leon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
