The Christopher Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Independence 76ers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christopher's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Independence's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Christopher's win against Leland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Chargers on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Katelyn Vega spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alexis Herbst was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Loredo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Independence hadn't done well against Prospect recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The 76ers were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the 76ers, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Arriana Aguilar and Lynnia Holden did most of the damage at the plate: Aguilar went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Holden went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Laila Morales, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Independence now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Christopher, their record now sits at 12-7.
Everything went Christopher's way against Independence in their previous matchup on April 13th, as Christopher made off with a 13-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
