Basketball Recap: Lavin Savage's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Impact Christian Academy over Florida School for the Deaf & Blind

After flying high against Trinity Christian Academy last Monday, Impact Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Impact Christian Academy Lions took a hard 49-33 fall against the Florida School for the Deaf & Blind Dragons on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Dragons are ranked 73rd).

Impact Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lavin Savage, who posted seven points along with seven boards and six steals. Savage has been hot for a while, having posted four or more steals the last 28 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta?Karie Powell, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Impact Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in 28 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Impact Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Florida School for the Deaf & Blind, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Impact Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-26 loss against Eagle's View on the 12th. As for Florida School for the Deaf & Blind, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-12 victory against Taylor on the 12th.
