Preview: Firebaugh Eagles vs. Avenal Buccaneers
Firebaugh is 8-2 against Avenal since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Firebaugh Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Avenal Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. Firebaugh will be strutting in after a win while Avenal will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Firebaugh beat Dos Palos 53-47. The win made it back-to-back wins for Firebaugh.
Avenal suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Coalinga 69-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Avenal has suffered against Coalinga since January 31, 2019.
Firebaugh is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Avenal, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
Firebaugh strolled past Avenal in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 56-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Firebaugh since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
