Recap: Seaside Seagulls vs. Astoria Fishermen
The Seaside Seagulls fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Astoria. That's two games straight that Seaside has won by exactly 35 points.
Seaside found their leader in underclassman Ryder Jackson, who rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Jackson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Kyler Mccleary was another key contributor, gaining 113 total yards and three touchdowns.
Seaside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Astoria, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seaside will take on St. Helens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Helens is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Astoria, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Scappoose at 7:00 p.m. Scappoose presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Astoria in Oregon (Scappoose is ranked 24th, while Astoria is ranked 118th).
