Westminster won against Santa Ana last Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Tustin Tillers. Considering the Lions have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Naomi Miranda was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Lily Alvarez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Westminster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory (which was Westminster's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tustin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Looking ahead, Westminster will take on El Diamante in a tournament on Saturday. As for Tustin, they will head out to square off against Santa Ana at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
