The Tunkhannock Tigers will square off against the Parkland Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Tunkhannock beats Parkland with 12 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Tigers beat Pittston on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The victory was just business as usual for the Tigers, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.

Addisyn Waterman and Kayden Bamberger did most of the damage at the plate: Waterman scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-2, while Bamberger went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Waterman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Karp, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Tunkhannock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittston only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parkland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on East Stroudsburg South with a sharp 9-1 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won six in a row.
Allison Hunsberger was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Hunsberger was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maria Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Tunkhannock's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Parkland, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tunkhannock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .471. However, it's not like Parkland struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Tunkhannock's way against Parkland in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Tunkhannock made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
