Basketball Recap: North Vermillion Beats Armstrong for Their Third Straight Victory

North Vermillion had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 57-46 win over the Armstrong Trojans. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 178th in Indiana, while the Trojans are ranked 466th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Vermillion found their leader in freshman Nora Thomann, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomann has scored all season. Cadence Dunham was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

North Vermillion is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Armstrong, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

North Vermillion and Oakwood will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Armstrong, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cissna Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
