Baseball Recap: Mount Vernon Takes a Loss

Mount Vernon and Pottsboro squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mount Vernon had to settle for second. They fell 4-1 to the Cardinals. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Mount Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jhett Mangum, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Carsen Summerlin was another, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Pottsboro, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-7-1.

Mount Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pottsboro, they will venture away from home to face off against Whitesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
