Basketball Game Preview: Orangeburg Prep Indians vs. Calhoun Academy Cavaliers

The Orangeburg Prep Indians will challenge the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Orangeburg Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Calhoun Academy likes a good challenge.

On Wednesday, Orangeburg Prep strolled past Thomas Sumter Academy with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Generals are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Avery Ravenell was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tilden Riley, who posted 13 points along with six boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Calhoun Academy didn't have too much trouble with Holly Hill Academy on Wednesday as they won 67-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Calhoun Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Orangeburg Prep, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Orangeburg Prep took their victory against Calhoun Academy when the teams last played on Friday by a conclusive 71-47. Does Orangeburg Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Calhoun Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
