Basketball Recap: Fabens Wildcats vs. Immanuel Christian Warriors
Fabens proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 51) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Immanuel Christian Warriors 45-43. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Story, who posted ten points and four steals. Story is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Ayala, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Fabens' win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Immanuel Christian, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-10.
Fabens will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fort Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Immanuel Christian will take on Andress in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
