Football Recap: Amplus Academy's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Amplus Academy needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Ashley Galvis. The Amplus Academy Archers came out on top against the Spring Valley Grizzlies by a score of 14-7 on Friday thanks in part to Galvis, who rushed for 156 yards, and also threw for 13 yards and one touchdown. She also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions which she returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Amplus Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Galvis and Iyanna Taboada. Galvis' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked her third straight game with at least 117 rushing yards.

Amplus Academy's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Spring Valley, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Amplus Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mojave at 4:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. As for Spring Valley, they will take on Green Valley in a tournament on Friday.
