Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They put the hurt on the Chico Panthers with a sharp 15-9 victory on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Elisea Wiegand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Taylor Bates was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Rylee Vakulich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
