Baseball Recap: Lawrence Drops Highest Score of Season Against Marcellus

Lawrence extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 21-6 to the Marcellus Wildcats. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked the Tigers' highest-scoring game to date.

David Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Kelson-Johnson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

As for Marcellus, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by nine runs or more this season.

On Marcellus' side, Abram Coffey was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave Coffey a new career-high. Brock McWilliams was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Lawrence will head out on the road to face off against Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Marcellus, they will take on Bloomingdale at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
