After losing to Burke Catholic the last time they met, Eldred decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Yellowjackets came out on top against Burke Catholic by a score of 10-5 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.
Giada Donato spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Sydney Furler was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Gonzalez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Eldred's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Burke Catholic, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Coming up, Eldred will take on Sullivan West in a tournament on Saturday. As for Burke Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Burke Catholic's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
