Preview: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Millard South Patriots

Bellevue West is 1-9 against the Patriots since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bellevue West Thunderbirds will head out on the road to challenge the Millard South Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Bellevue West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully the Patriots likes a good challenge.

Even though Omaha Westside scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Bellevue West still came out on top. Bellevue West narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Warriors 60-57.

Naomi White was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Coyer, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Millard South suffered a rough 68-43 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Millard South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Mustangs are ranked 18th).

Bellevue West's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Millard South, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Bellevue West suffered a grim 68-47 defeat to the Patriots when the teams last played back in March of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bellevue West was down 42-12.
