Basketball Recap: Emily Stevens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead George Ranch over Fulshear

George Ranch played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 71-49 to the Fulshear Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 808th, while the Chargers are ranked 66th).

George Ranch's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Stevens, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points. Those 12 points gave Stevens a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Kulcak, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Even though they lost, George Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

George Ranch dropped their record down to 10-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Fulshear, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

George Ranch will venture away from home to face off against Alief Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alief Taylor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.1 points per game this season. As for Fulshear, they will welcome Alief Elsik at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fulshear will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
