Baseball Recap: Pymatuning Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Conneaut on Saturday, Pymatuning Valley came back down to earth. The Lakers fell just short of the St. John Heralds by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Lakers haven't had much luck with the Heralds recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Pymatuning Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Britton, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Pymatuning Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for St. John, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Pymatuning Valley will head out to take on Cardinal at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. John, they are taking a road trip to square off against Maplewood at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Heralds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
