The Cheshire Academy Cats will challenge the Salisbury School Crimson Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Salisbury School will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Cheshire Academy extended their winning streak to 12 on Wednesday. The Cats' pitchers stepped up to hand Wilbraham & Monson Academy a 26-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cats considering their two-run performance the game before.
Conner Crosbie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Crosbie was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Max Markar looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jason Dewitt, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cillian Morrissey, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Cheshire Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Salisbury School, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Canterbury School on Wednesday by a score of 8-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Kaleb Traylor was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Fiatarone, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Cheshire Academy's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Salisbury School, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cheshire Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Salisbury School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
