Basketball Recap: Leilehua Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Punahou

On Thursday, Leilehua faced Punahou in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Leilehua Mighty Mules fell 55-44 to the Punahou Buff n' Blue. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mighty Mules this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-50 two weeks ago.

Tanoaalofa Scanlan was his usual excellent self, putting up 23 points for Punahou. Zion White was another key player, posting six points.

Leilehua has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Punahou, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leilehua won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kamehameha Kapalama at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Punahou, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Kahuku at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
