Basketball Recap: Gervais Comes Up Short

Gervais was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-17 loss at the hands of the Salem Academy Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Crusaders are ranked 33rd).

Gervais' defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Salem Academy, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gervais will host Regis at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Gervais is facing Regis at the right time seeing as Regis is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Salem Academy, they will be playing at home against Delphian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Salem Academy's favor as the squad sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Delphian has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
