Football Recap: Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 35-21 bruising from the Redbank Valley Bulldogs on Saturday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley, who until this matchup were averaging 13.25 points allowed.

Although Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Parker Bish, Aidan Fox, and Logan Skibinski.

Braylon Wagner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Redbank Valley, throwing for 326 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 98 yards and one score. Wagner's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. Redbank Valley's leading receiver Carson Gould was Wagner's top target yet again, picking up 102 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Redbank Valley, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Redbank Valley, they will take on Port Allegany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Gators have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight contests.
